The 2026 FIFA World Cup ran from 11 June to 19 July, co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. The Austin Korean Association carried live scores and group standings on this page throughout the tournament, and hosted Korean community watch parties at Casa Verde so neighbours could follow the matches together.

The final: Spain 1-0 Argentina

The final was played on 19 July at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Spain beat Argentina 1-0, with substitute Ferran Torres scoring in the 106th minute of extra time, to lift the trophy for the second time — sixteen years after their first world title in 2010.

Korea Republic at the 2026 World Cup

Korea Republic began with a 2-1 win over Czechia on 11 June, but back-to-back 1-0 defeats to Mexico on 18 June and South Africa on 24 June left them third in Group A on three points. They were not among the eight best third-placed teams, so their tournament ended at the group stage.

Group A final standings

  1. Mexico — 3 wins, 9 points, 6 scored and none conceded
  2. South Africa — 1 win, 1 draw, 1 loss, 4 points
  3. Korea Republic — 1 win, 2 losses, 3 points
  4. Czechia — 1 draw, 2 losses, 1 point
